Workplace Injuries

Workplace injuries to the hands and arm are extremely common. According the SafeWork Australia website, the upper limb is the area of the body that is most likely to be injured at work, with up to 34% of all serious workplace injuries occurring to the upper limb. Workplace injuries can occur by repetitive strain or trauma, such as falls or injuries involving tools.

Common workplace injuries that we treat at Geelong Hand Therapy are:

  • Tendinopathies
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome/Release
  • Lacerated tendons and nerves
  • Ruptured ligaments
  • Dislocations and fractures to the fingers, hand or arm
  • Amputations
  • Elbow injuries

Workplace injuries are usually compensable under workcover insurance claims. The therapists at Geelong Hand Therapy work closely with all parties involved in workplace injuries, to ensure best outcomes for the patient. Your therapist will liaise with GP’s, workplace contacts and case managers as needed to assist you to get back to work as quickly and safely as possible.
