Inpatient visits

Inpatient hospital visits

For some, hand therapy begins prior to being discharged from hospital. Referring surgeons or rehabilitation teams can request hand therapy services while patients remain in hospital. Patients can be seen either for immediate therapy soon after surgery, or as part of their ongoing rehabilitation if they are required to remain in hospital in a rehabilitation ward.

Therapists at Geelong Hand Therapy have visiting rights at both St John of God Hospital and Epworth Geelong.

Inpatient visits often include splint fabrication, provision of exercise programs and initiation of oedema (swelling) reduction techniques.
