Sporting Injuries

Did you know that approximately 25% of all sports-related injuries involve the hand or wrist?

At Geelong Hand Therapy, we frequently treat injuries sustained during

  • football
  • cricket
  • basketball
  • netball
  • rowing
  • tennis
  • golf
  • gymnastics
  • rugby
  • soccer
  • hockey
  • boxing

Injuries sustained during sporting activities include fractures and dislocations, ligament sprains / strains and tears, ruptured tendons and soft tissue injuries.

Often hand injuries sustained during sporting activities are overlooked as being minor and treatment is often delayed.  This can lead to issues later in life so every hand injury, even a ‘jarred’ finger (which in reality is usually a torn ligament), should be looked at by a hand therapist as soon as possible, to prevent complications down the track.

Therapists at Geelong Hand Therapy understand that athletes want to return to their sport as soon as possible after injury, and work closely with the athlete to make this happen.

We're here to help!
